Keep Fishin
This was the last show the infamous tribute band "Say it Ain't Weezer" played together. This was an outdoor free show at Wright Park and by the end of the night we had over 200 people there. It was just before July 4th and we light off fireworks at dusk while cranking out the national anthem on guitar. Ahhh the memories...

My Name is Jonas
This is the first show ever put on by "Say it Ain't Weezer", the tribute band I did with my brother Roo and brothers-in-law Troy and James. We were a little rough around the edges but man was it fun. James hit his drums so hard that little pieces of his drumsticks were flying through the air the whole show, and by the end the stage looked like it was covered in sawdust!

Destruction
My friends Jeff and Steve got together the day of our graduation from chiropractic school to blow off some steam after 4 1/2 years of toil, and this is what came of it. The video is the actual birth of the song (just making it up as we went along). We kind of liked it and wrote some words down and tried it again--and that is the audio version here (click on song title).

Hello
A song written by my friend Jason. He was kind enough to let me throw some guitar tracks on there. You can check out more of his music at: http://www.ldscompanion.org/index.php?op=author&id=1

Waiting for the Rain

I had the pleasure of being in a band known as "The Crowned" with my friend Jess Wight a few years back. He is an amazing artist and songwriter. This is one of my favorite tunes he wrote that we played at an acoustic show years ago. I play bass on this track. Check out his music at his my space site "The Ruby Release".
Sleepy Hollow

Another riff that my brother Roo came up years ago. We thought it sounded cool and I tried turning it into a song. I had watched Sleepy Hollow the night before and thought it would be a fun thing to write a song about. I think this is the first song that I ever recorded (and it shows). It is here mostly for nostalgia sake. I do like the main riff and the lyrics (horror movie terror in the verses, tongue in cheek irony in the chorus)-but other than that...if nothing else it may be worth a second look some day.
Soundtrack Song
I envision this song as part of a soundtrack...perhaps where the hero is on a final dramatic journey to get resolution to the conflict. I like the harder strings that kick in about a minute into it.
Pearly Jam
A guitar instrumental that kind of reminds me of Pearl Jam--I know its a stretch. The name is to remind me what this is and will be updated someday when I'm ready to make a song out of it. This band continues to be a major influence on me musically, despite the fact that I disagree 100% with all of their political point of views (as with most bands that I listen to).

You're the One
Another ballad. This is the framework of what I think could be a great song. I have just never got around to finishing it. It's a straightforward piano-based confession of the joy of being close to someone you love...For some reason I mastered this one super quiet, so you'll have to crank the volume a little. Just don't forget to turn it back down when you're done!
High Above the Sea
I think this is the first attempt at a "real" song I ever did. I had a progression I liked on the piano and it turned into this. It needs to be shortened (among other things) and I apologize in advance for the guitar tone--no idea why I went with that--but the vibe is good. I'm a sucker for ballads...
Chapstick

A nod to Weezer perhaps. I had this progression forever and couldn't think of anything for lyrics. I thought of the "write what you know" mantra, and since I'm addicted to chapstick I went with that. Kind of silly but it worked. I like the chorus. Someday I would like to redo the verses and put more movement in the vocal melody...
Grand Opener
An instrumental with good potential that just needs some lyrics to make it a complete song—I have some framework ideas and will finish this one off. (I realized after I recorded this that the keyboard riff is a little too close to a Journey song—oh well.) The name “Grand Opener” was because I envision this as a song that a band would open a concert with—the lights dim just before they come out, the crowd roars, the keyboard intro starts in, a single spotlight shines on the guitarist as he hits that first note, the buildup continues, and the whole stage lights up once the groove kicks in, and the fans go crazy. (Sigh)…A guy can dream can’t he?

With or Without You

U2 is one of my all time favorite bands, and this will always be my favorite U2 song. It just mesmerizes me. I put together this backing track and was lucky enough to contract a professional singer to do the lead vocal-and boy did she nail it. What a gorgeous voice (she's pretty hot too, and she's a great mom to my kids and wife to me)--I think I like her version better than Bono's.

Anticipation
My best friend in chiropractic school Jeff had this chord progression he came up with on bass. We played it over an over and it was fun, but it was just chords. I went home one night and decided to make a song out of it. I like the harmony and the drum turn around at the end of each chorus. This is another one with potential that I need to re-do someday. I have no idea what is happening with the EQ on the vocals here...but oh well... Rumor has it this song became a hit in Brazil.

Go to the Show

A tribute to (i.e: ripoff of) one of my all time favorite bands--Nirvana. I came up with a cool little riff and thought it would be a good basis for a song. This is another one that I like but it needs much improvement. Kurt Cobain would roll in his grave if he heard how much reverb I drowned everything in the mix (a common ploy by beginners to hide mediocrity). This is several years old now and I will resurrect it and fix it someday...
(She's got a) Bow in Her Hair
Originally written as an acoustic duo by my brother Spencer and his roommate Chris, I took the liberty of redoing it and giving it some zing. It's such a cute song that I thought it would be fun to do a more rockin version of it, so here it is...
